Welcome to Safe Haul Driving Academy, where we provide entry level drivers training (ELDT) for future drivers. A Commercial Drivers License, referred to as a CDL, is required to drive commercial vehicles. Our classroom features up-to-date study materials to promote a solid grasp of driving concepts. Students also benefit from hands-on instruction in our well-maintained trucks, gaining valuable practical experience necessary to obtain your CDL. Safe Haul courses are compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration requirements. Our courses are tailored to accommodate all skill levels, ensuring that every student receives the support necessary to thrive in their driving journey.

Why do I need a CDL?

A CDL or, commercial drivers license, is required for Class A, Class B and Class B Passenger vehicles.

Class A Vehicles

A Class A vehicle is a combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of at least 26,001 pounds, and a towed unit with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of at least 10,000 pounds. 

Examples of Class A vehicles include: Tractor-trailers and Flatbed vehicles. 

A Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) is required to operate a Class A vehicle. With the right endorsements, a Class A CDL can also allow the driver to operate some Class B vehicles. A Class A CDL is considered the "universal" CDL.

Class B Vehicles

A Class B vehicle is a single vehicle that weighs at least 26,001 pounds. A Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) allows you to drive these types of vehicles: 

  • Straight trucks

  • Large buses, such as city buses, tourist buses with a passenger endorsement

  • Box trucks, including delivery trucks and furniture trucks

  • Dump trucks with small trailers

  • Waste trucks

  • Some Class C vehicles with the correct endorsements

A Class B CDL is more limiting than a Class A CDL, which allows drivers to operate a wider variety of vehicles.

Class B Passenger Vehicles

A "Class B passenger vehicle" refers to a single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating exceeding 26,001pounds, which is commonly used to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, like a city bus, school bus, or tour bus.

Our Class A course offers essential ELDT classroom, range, and road instruction. This program equips you to secure your Class A commercial driving license. If you're aiming to operate vehicles such as an 18 wheeler this the program for you.

Class B Passenger Course

Class B CDL

Our Class B Passenger course offers essential ELDT classroom, range, and road instruction. This program equips you to secure your Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement. Class B passenger vehicles include vehicles such as school busses and tour buses.

Masters Class

This class is geared toward the new CDL Instructor with no teaching experience. You will be certified to train students to obtain their CDLs. Applicants must have their CDL prior to starting. By request only. Please contact us.

Class B CDL Course

Class B Class

Our Class B course offers essential ELDT classroom, range, and road instruction. This program equips you to secure your Class B commercial driving license. Class B vehicles include waste removal trucks, dump truck, delivery trucks and tow trucks.

Range and Road Practice

Range and Road Instruction includes an instructor, a four-hour session, and accommodates up to 4 students. It's ideal for those needing extra range and road practice to pass their CDL, or for individuals who already have their CDL but need a refresher.

This course its directed towards current CDL instructors looking to excel in their teaching capabilities. We will go over our complete training program allowing you to effectively train students in an effective and timely manner. By request only. Please contact us.
